This workshop is delivered by Juan Chao - Founder of the Archivo de Música Origina - an organisation that uses new technologies to preserve Indigenous musical traditions at risk of extinction. Juan will explore assumptions connected to Indigenous communities and the environment, and asks what kinds of institutions, knowledge systems, and cultural narratives have enabled some communities to maintain sustainable relationships with particular territories over long periods of time.
Among these narratives are myths and how traditional myths help regulate indigenous people's actions in ways that support the natural cycles of the places where they live and why preserving these stories is important.
