Where Music and Art Collide
MUSIC SHAPED is a new project that pairs musical and cultural icons with exceptional visual artists to create works reflecting how music has influenced their lives. It starts with a recorded conversation between the visual artist and the musician, and results in the visual artist producing a new piece of work reflecting the conversation and their creative journeys. The final pieces are sold to raise critical funds for the work of In Place of War.
The collaborative process sees the visual artist drawing ideas from the conversation, thinking about those catalytic moments when music shifted things; and memories - places, landscapes, environments, objects - things that are symbolic, as well as colours that hold significance, and specific music that has influenced them.
For MUSIC SHAPED 2025, the unique artworks were auctioned with Bonhams, as part of the Sound and Cinema Auction, as well as in a silent auction at Brian Eno’s Studio. Scroll down to view the original artworks from previous years. For MUSIC SHAPED 2026-27, we will focus on a smaller number of original artworks by high profile artists.
All proceeds go towards In Place of War's #HackMusic Programme, supporting the development of life-changing music projects with indigenous communities, LGBTQ+ artists; artists in conflict zones and artists responding to the climate crisis.
