Center for Children's Theatre Development, Kosovo
The conflict in Kosovo took place over a significant period of the years 1998-1999. The result of this set of clashes was the displacement of 300,000 people and the persecution of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. A ceasefire was signed in June of 1999 and a United Nations peace keeping force was deployed to attend to the administration of Kosovo. After the conflict, more than 5,000 Albanian and Serbian people were missing, and the UN established an organisation to help find and identify remains. As of 2006 approximately 2400 people remain missing in Kosovo, and some believe that their community's missing are being held in prisons or work camps by those of the other ethnic group.
